Monkey Intrusion Interview

We chatted with Italy's own Monkey Intrusion.

How did the name come about?

Hey guys, thank you for the interview! Enrico J. Goti (voice and guitar) has just joined the

band and we were looking for a new name. At the time I was traveling to Asia for work and I stopped in Singapore at a hotel on the Rasa Sentosa Peninsula. When I entered the

room overlooking on tropical vegetation, I saw a sign on the window that read: ‘due to

Monkey Intrusion please keep the balcony door locked at all times’. When I told this story to the guys on the way back, we thought ‘Monkey Intrusion’ was a really cool name for the band: the one they sneak into people’s minds to unleash their most irrational and wild side.

How would you describe your genre to someone who isn't familiar with your music?

It’s a visceral hard rock, unpredictable with influences from the 70s, 80s and 90s. It’s a lot

of genres put together. We melt everything that’s needed into the song. We are all five

band members, composers with a quite diverse musical background. You can hear classic rock, as well as grunge, stoner, prog, punk and even reggae and latin. We draw on

everything we like, with the obsession to be original and to move emotions.

How did the band form?

Marco Plesnicar (bass guitar) and I (Vincenzo Reina, voice & electric guitar have known each other and play together since school and have several band mates. Monkey Intrusion started about ten tears ago when Enrico J. Goti (voice & electric guitar) arrived, and we consolidated when Marco Bertoli (drums) joined the band. Last year Sara Cova (voice), who had already sung on our debut album ‘Pussycats and Monkeymen’, joined us.

What are some of the artists that influence you?

There are really so many great artists to whom we are grateful. The list would be so long, just to name the most relevant: Led Zeppelin, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Peter Gabriel, David Bowie, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Angra, Foo Fighters, Dream Theater and Megadeth.

If you could tour with any artist or band (still active or not) who would it be?

Very difficult question, let’s go for the Foo Fighters, they are awesome and they are still on the edge keeping their creativity and passion intact.

What;s your favorite show you've played?

Probably the one we did in a very nice venue in our hometown Trieste when we presented

our Album.

What's the future hold for the band?

We are writing and arranging new songs. The goal for this year is to release at least one

EP.
