David Ellefson (US)
From humble farm roots in rural Minnesota, David Ellefson has come a long way, literally and figuratively, to conquering stages around the World as a versatile musician, bass player, author and artist. Former bassist and founder of thrash metal titans MEGADETH. Revered for his unique, hard-hitting playing style, and unwavering dedication to his musical craft, Ellefson has woven a vast professional tapesty as a bassist, songwriter, record producer, clinician and author. As a founding member of MEGADETH, he has been awarded 10 Grammy nominations, countless gold & platinum records and toured the world for the better part of 3 decades.
In addition, David has lent his playing and writing abilities to several recording and touring projects including Soulfly, F5, Temple of Brutality, Altitudes and Attitude (With Frank Bello of Anthrax) and Metal Allegiance, the "supergroup" formed by Mark Menghi with David, Mike Portnoy, and Alex Skolnick who released their eponymous debut in 2015 on Nuclear Blast. His main band ‘ELLEFSON’ founded by David Ellefson himself with international membrs including guitarplayer Andy Martongelli. The Lucid with Drew Fortier, Vinnie Dombrowski and Mike Heller.
Ellefson who holds a Bachelor's degree in business marketing and continues to lecture on a variety of music and business related topics, has also ventured out into other related forays, as president of record label EMP Label Group (Ellefson Music Productions), and with his own coffee brand Ellefson Coffee Co. Wrote, co wrote and recorded on a rich discography with an international musician cast. Works as a respected endorsee with various international companies as: Jackson Guitars, Hartke Amplifiers, EMG Pickups, Bombags Semicases and more.
David is also a producer and owner of Ellefson Films, with his succesful ‘Blair Witch” style found footage film “Dwellers” along with Drew Fortier. Author of several books in both fiction and autobiography genre.
Joel McIver (UK)
Since 2012, Joel has been the editor of Bass Guitar magazine, and since 2018, editor of Bass Player after the two publications merged. His best-known work is Justice for All: The Truth About Metallica, first published in 2004 and appearing in nine languages since then. As well as writing his own books, McIver also co-writes musicians' autobiographies. The first of these was the memoir of sometimes Deep Purple bassist Glenn Hughes, published in 2011. Other memoirs co-written by McIver include those of Max Cavalera of Soulfly, Ellefson/ The Lucid / Grammy awarded and nominated bassist David Ellefson, David Bowie's former drummer Woody Woodmansey and blues veteran John Mayall. Joel recently interview the licensed physiotherapist Anna Achimowicz for the “Play Safe” health feature in Bass Player Magazine.
Joel's latest book Fathers, Brothers, and Sons: Surviving Anguish, Abandonment, and Anthrax Hardcover by Frank Bello and Joel McIver is out October 12th.

Founder, rock choreographer, and physical front woman of Rock Dance Theatre. Professional stage performer since with over 20 years of experience, performer and physical contemporary dance teacher, collaborated among others w. Stagman, Ryan Roxie, Eric Dover, Peter Sager. Freelance movement director for music videos, fashion, stage and film featured in 'Whispers' by Vincent, 'Animals' by SupremeUnbeing next to D. Ellefson. Raised in San Diego, CA, based currently out of Europe. Guest teacher and masterclass coach. Author of “TIME to Rock” workshop series, author and Rock Dance Theatre live stream meeting series - podcast host, author. Head licensed physiotherapist and owner of individual medical practice Performing Arts Medicine CMT as BANDAid - Physiotherapy for Rockstars specialised in body management and treatment of musicians, dancers, athletes and stage performers in the live arts industry. Co-author of “Body Management for bassists/ dancers/ performers” seminar series.
