Finnish doom metal band Denigrate's final single from the upcoming fourth album is a story about an suffering artist

Helsinki-based doom metal band Denigrate has released the final single from their upcoming fourth full length album titled To the Goddess Unknown to be released on November 29th 2024 via Inverse Records. The title of the single Sesame and Lilies is a quotation from John Ruskin (1819-1900) and the song narrates and shakes in the spirit of Pre-Raphaelitism. The versatile soundscape that is both extremely heavy and fragile. Like a demolition ball with extremely thin glass surface or a sonata layered with death metal.

Denigrate's singer Galzi tells about the song:

"Sesame and Lilies is a story of an artists suffering from the lack of spirituality. He blames everyone but himself of that situation. He blame his muse, quills, the ceiling, the walls, his premises. It's a lament that is easy for all of us to identify with. But it's always much harder to face your deficiencies and lift yourself up from that swamp. There is only the way up and the way down. Staying still isn't an option. What is your choice?"

Since Denigrate was found back in '96, the inevitable vibe of the band was to be dark, melancholy, tormented, observative.

The quantity of albums released is really not the thing in this band. From the first released album in 2003 to the latest 4th one in 2024 called "To The Goddess Unknown", decades has changed and so has the band.

After no more than three albums released, after big-time local momentum with a finnish cover song, after mandatory hiatus, after some line-up changes, Denigrate 2024 introduces their absolutely greatest masterpiece to date and shows what only truely experienced bunch of members can achieve.

DENIGRATE:

Galzi Kallio: Vocals

Pekka Pyrhönen: Bass
