Prophecy Fest 2021 announce five new bands

PROPHECY FEST adds five new bands to the billing of the ANNIVERSARY EDITION 2021

Dark, forward thinking music with an attitude in one of the world's most fascinating cultural locations, the legendary, natural Cave of Balve ("Balver Höhle") in the heart of Germany. Prophecy Productions proudly announce:

Prophecy Fest in the label's 25th anniversary year is announcing five more acts for the festival's three days and nights from Thursday, September 9 to Saturday, September 11: DEINE LAKAIEN have agreed to present a special treat – the German dark wave pioneers will present one of their legendary acoustic shows! NEGURĂ BUNGET co-founding member Hupogrammos and Sol Faur, guitar player since 1998, revive their first main band with a once in a lifetime performance. Supported by live musicians from DORDEDUH, the two original songwriters of the Romanian black metal icons will bring material from the first five albums to the cave. Hot German newcomers ST. MICHAEL FRONT have just signed to Auerbach Tonträger and will already deliver their fascinating dark pop mix to Balve. The addition of Italy's rarely appearing KLIMT 1918 will not just thrill connoisseurs of intelligent indie rock but also delight anybody else who loves melancholic music. And last but never least, German black metal outfit EÏS, formerly known as GEÏST will bring their unique take on darkness to the stage despite being on an official hiatus.

The following bands have previously been confirmed for the billing:EMPYRIUM, DORNENREICH, DOOL, DORDEDUH, and SECRETS OF THE MOON.

Martin Koller comments: "We are absolutely thrilled to welcome five exciting new bands to this year's festival billing", enthusesthe label's founder. "Despite all the difficulties that planning during a global pandemic causes, we are confident to have successfully invited more outstanding acts from across the wide spectrum of dark emotional music that Prophecy Productions and its sister labels stand for. Next to cult act DEINE LAKAIEN, particularly the historic concert that Hupogrammos and Sol Faur have agreed to give by playing their early NEGURĂ BUNGET material with the backing of DORDEDUH members promises to be another once in a lifetime experience at Prophecy Fest."

Prophecy Fest was founded in 2015 and already already sold out at the first edition. This singular event for dark and innovative music takes place in the Balver Kulturhöhle ("Balve culture cave") in the Hönnetal ("Valley of Hönne") near the town of Balve in the Sauerland region of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia.

The naturally formed karst cave has been used by humans already during the palaeolithic age. Is is an important archaeological site that yielded remains from many periods up and until medieval times. According to legend and the old Icelandic Thidreksaga, the mythical blacksmith Wayland learned his magical trade from dwarven masters ins this cave.

The gravity of its history and the special acoustics of the Balver Cave provide a unique atmosphere that fits perfectly with the musical programme of the Prophecy Fest.

New confirmed bands:

DEINE LAKAIEN are already a legend despite the German duo not just being still active but also remaining on top of their pioneering creativity as the new double-album "Dual" is about to prove. For more than 30 years, composer and pianist Ernst Horn and vocalist extraordinaire Alexander Veljanov have led the way in the Dark Wave genre and their iconic status derives from both, now 10 classic studio albums and outstanding live performances.

It is not by random chance that the path let to fronter Hupogrammos and guitarist Sol Faur as musicians best suited to perform songs of NEGURĂ BUNGET. Both have literally been instrumental as the composers of the first five albums that basically put Romania on the map of metal, before they decided to split and form DORDEDUH. The Romanians will therefore performclassics from the first five albums.

Intelligent dark pop? Sure, if it comes from the German duo ST. MICHAEL FRONT. The latest proud addition to the roster of Auerbach Tonträger has left a mark on Wave Gotik Treffen and many other places with their debut album "End of Ahriman". Guitarist Bruder Matthias and singer Bruder Sascha broke "the rules" by putting neofolk, dark pop, and even Schlager through a demonic meatgrinder of esoteric lyrics. Not to be missed!

KLIMT 1918 masterminds Paolo and Marco Soellner had started out in a metal band, but the sound of the Italian indie rockers owes far more to THE CURE and JOY DIVISION than to down-tuned guitars. Yet their ethereal magic and delicate emotionality is presented with conviction and strength. A somewhat rare guest north of the Alps, their show offers a great opportunity to catch up again with this amazing act.

EÏS had already been well established and respected within German black metal circles under the moniker GEÏST, when they were forced to change name in 2010. The band from the city of Porta Westfalica has always followed their own musical vision and their unique sound eas last heard on the EP "Stillstand und Heimkehr", which was released in 2018 and well received by critics and fans alike. Currently the band is on a hiatus.
