Heterodoxa (EP)

13 October 2025

Finnish black metal band Synthre is set to make their debut on October 13th with the release of the EP called 'Heterodoxa'. Comprised of 5 tracks and clocking in at 22 minutes, 'Heterodoxa' introduces the unconventional sound of Synthre, with death, black and clean vocals accompanied by harsh, dissonant guitars, repetitive ritualistic riffs, and middle-eastern themes and instruments.

Thematically 'Heterodoxa' explores the synthesis of religious ideology at the beginning of the current era, when the once war-bound Assyrian empire became "Syriac", and one of the cradles of Christianity. The album draws inspiration from this unlikely transformation, during which the old gods and demons of Sumeria and Mesopotamia started to walk alongside early Christianity, Gnosticism and other distinct yet interconnected belief systems.

'Heterodoxa' is scheduled to be released digitally on all major platforms, as well as physically, in the form of a limited edition digipak CD.

A single called “Thy Gaze is Fire” is available now on digital platforms as a taste of what’s to come. The song - which is the apotheotic climax of 'Heterodoxa' - features guest musician David De Liniers on drums, alongside multi-instrumentalist Mircea Purdea of the band Exhalus, who forms the core of Synthre.
